So many individuals on the spectrum respond positively to music in the classroom. In fact, many teachers and parents tell me that they regularly sing instead of speak when providing directions.
This connection to music can also be used to teach new content. Try making up songs to teach new concepts. This idea will be appreciated by all students, but may be especially pleasing for those with autism and Asperger syndrome if you can find tunes that are favorites. Any concept or idea can be set to music.
