Tip 19: Share Strengths of ALL Students

Look for ways to emphasize the abilities and strengths of all learners in your classroom. This practice will not only help you use the various gifts of your students across lessons and throughout the day, but it will be helpful in building classroom community. There are many ways to help students identify and share strengths.

You can create a cool poster like my friend, Amber, did in her classroom. You can have students create a class book with this information. You can also highlight this information during “student of the week” presentations or during a modified show and tell. For older learners, you can have students discuss strengths as part of a team building exercise or game or as a formal writing assignment.
